Any idea how to install yahoo messenger for Linux. Its in an .rpm file and I read to install alien to convert it to a .deb. I installed that with no problem, but when I did the command for sudo alien -k then the name after, I just would get file can’t be found, yet it’s there on the desktop. Any other suggestions on how to do it

It’s probably easier to follow the following below. Try GAIM. Good luck!
Pidgin and Kopete will do just fine instead of Yahoo! IM.
Trust me, I have used them for years
Try using the full path for the file name, as sudo may be executing in another directory. For example, sudo alien -k /var/tmp/yahoo-messenger.rpm (or whatever the correct command line should be)
You can also use the web version of YIM: http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/
Personally, I use Pidgin, /usr/bin/pidgin, which can also connect to not only IM, but also AIM, MSN, ICQ, and other IM servers all at once.
