Windows is copying Linux?

Is it just me, or does it seem like windows has borrowed quite a few features and ideas from the open source Linux?

Microsoft copy all their ideas from other people. I don’t think they’ve ever been able to come up with a good idea on their own.
Honestly, I don’t think Microsoft has had a single original idea… Do you know how many times they have been sued? I heard that many of Window’s security features are bite offs of Linux/UNIX systems. As far as other features go, I’m not too sure about, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
Boy and I thought Apple was evil!
It would be GREAT if they were actually doing this, but instead they go around re-inventing the wheel.
Sudo is a fantastic security utility for Linux and Mac, but then Microsoft invented UAC, which is more annoying than useful.
Text files are a great way to store settings. They’re easily editable, and well documented. If one gets corrupted or deleted, then you’ve only lost settings for one application. Microsoft created the Registry. All settings are stored there. You can only edit it with the Regedit utility. It’s poorly documented, and if it gets corrupted, then you can’t even run Windows anymore.
Linux has a mechanism to keep ALL of your software up to date. Microsoft Update only keeps Microsoft software up to date.
There are many GUI’s to choose from for Linux. All of them are highly configurable. Windows gives you a desktop & task bar. End of story.
Linux is a command line, with an *optional* GUI built on top. Windows is a GUI first, with command line being an afterthought.
Linux rarely needs to be rebooted, and the GUI can be restarted without needing to restart the entire OS.
I will say this though: Nothing in unix-land compares to Microsoft’s Active Directory Group Policy. It’s their one redeeming quality. Every computer in a domain can have it’s features set and controlled by the domain controller. That’s nice for us network administrators.
Its been the case for a considerable number of years. What is more rich though is Microsoft have on occasion sought legal action claiming Linux is stealing Windows ideas. I guess its just the nature of the animal. Even 3 years later I am still somewhat apprehensive about the Novell/Microsoft deal

At the time it caused massive resentment in the Linux world and sites such as Boycott Novell sprung up in protest

iT IS NOT you at all Jonathan Microsoft really seemed to have copied a lot from Linux but NOT AS MUCH as from Apple. Copy copy copy and copy and then sell BIG PRICE and pretend you have reinvented the whell and ppl go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just the start menu in Windows 7 eerily resembles not to say a carbon copy of the KDE kickstart menu in SUSE truly almost identical.
On the positive in their upcoming version the KDE team copied a lot of stuff from Microsoft. Difference is that -UNLIKE THE CEO OR MICROSOFT – linux users or dev. have never called the Windows system a "cancer" though many ppl could argue it is.
