Why isn't there as many profession games for linux?
I was wondering, why isn’t there as many professional games for linux?
I figure that since linux is open source, overtime it would be a better platform for gaming since potential exploits, optimizations etc, could be found and the like. Not to mention its free. Why is it that Linux just doesn’t have the same capabilities gaming-wise. It seems far superior in every other respect.

Its basically the same old story.
Windows is the most used platform so it is Windows that receives the most attention.
The are some very good open source 3D games available. I particularly enjoy Nexuiz

However in the most part emulators are a must
I am not a keen gamer but I can fully understand the frustration it must bring. There is always XP which is outstanding for gaming applications
LUg.
It’s simple dollars and cents. Windows has a MUCH larger user base compared to linux, and game developers want their products to sell, so they go for the largest user base.
Just goes to show even the people that have used Linux for a while don’t know about the Linux 3D Action shoot em up Games. I would have thought Beryl would have known about all these games there is

There are and you can play any video game in Linux as long as you emulate Win XP dll files, besides, Linux can get ungodly FPS with 1/3 or your resources freed up from windows.
Any game with Write protection is no longer a game, its like Crack, its bad for you and everybody/thing els(RIAA)
SH4 on linux gets better FPS then in windows XP and Windows 7 is even worse with FPS.

I said good residence with greed and Yay for freedom.
Mint 7+wine+ Dll library from XP
just because something is available for linux, doesnt mean by default its free. it depends on the software license. While there are many freeware games for linux, you have to buy licenses for some like quake3, counterstrike, etc. also you can run many windows games in linux with wine like World of Warcraft.
You want a great commercial quality game for linux on the cheap? Buy World of Goo from 2DBoy with their birthday special pricing of "pay what you want"

I already had it for windows so I paid $2.00 and got a linux license for it as well.
Someone has to make them, google opensource games, and your find games that support linux. ID software is one of the few companies that releases their titles for Linux.
