i had a nvidia 6200 ealrier and only ubuntu amd 64 version(7.10 and 7.04 worked) when i tried to boot up any opther live cd or any linux distro it showed an error ,even if i dowloaded an x64 architecture ,it would load up to some extent and then say no bootable device found ,so as i told u that only ubuntu x64 version worked and i was happy but then i upgraded my system and changed my video card to nvidia 9600gt and ubuntu starts but there is no display ,i tried the live cd also then also no desplay

Did you try running the livecd in safe graphics mode? You may have to manually edit xorg.conf and change the display driver. By default, ubuntu tries to use the nv driver for nvidia cards, try using the vesa driver. Boot ubuntu until there is no display, then press ctrl+alt+f1 and it should take you into a virtual terminal. Log in and type: "sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf" Find the "Device" section and add this line: "Driver vesa"
If you have some flavor of windows, try Wubi. It will download and install Ubuntu (currently 8.10) into a special file on a windows partition. It sets up a special boot menu to allow you to choose which OS you want to run. I am currently writing this from one such thing. I have dual monitors configured as one big desktop, the same as my XP install. My sound and network are working well. I have had to do some configuring but not much, mostly the video. I am having a blast on it.

May I suggest you consider running 32-bit architecture as there are known issues with some 64-bit Linux distros. Kubuntu being one of them.
Also Kubuntu is a poor KDE distro. and you would be far better off going with an alternative.
I suggest Mandriva 2009 http://www.mandriva.com/ it sorts a fine KDE 4 desktop and comes with the added bonus of the Nvidia drivers being preinstalled.
