Who sponsor Open Source software like linux and how they get income?

I m curious. How can they survive without any income…?

They get income by charging money for a "distribution". They can’t charge for Linux itself but they can charge for the manuals, CDs, installation software, etc.
In addition, many open source companies charge money for Linux support and consulting services. This can be much more lucrative than selling distributions.
On Linux websites they also give users the chance to donate money.
