Dear friend,
The box you get along with your BSNL DATAOne broadband is first of all, not a modem but a router. Just give 192.168.1.1 id to the router and 192.168.1.x where x > 1 to your ethernet card. subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0 and default gateway to be 192.168.1.1 and you are through. You don’t need any special software for the router. Here is the link for your further information -

Any linux.
You already have the required software.
Don’t open the c program in kwrite – compile it and run it. Full documentation should be provided in the file called "README".
How do you connect to your computer with Modem? If it’s a Lan Wire then you don’t need any kind of driver etc. BSNL DataOne is DSL and most of the DSL modem provide the facility to connect to your computer by the LAN cable. In that case it’s just a simple network connection and you need to configure the network in your Linux Distro as if your Router is your gateway, that’s all.
