Any OS is better then Vista.
haven’t you heard? Vista has been named the worst OS evar!
I would have to say Ubuntu.
but ubuntu is more for the tech savvy people who understand what they are doing. If your not one of those poeiople I would go with vista, although I hate to say it.
but vista can be very troublesome a lot too.
I would actually prefer you to go with Windows XP or if you dont need the windows world (which I assume you don’t seeing that your considering linux) I would really prefer mac os x.
Not to mention that linux is free which is always a plus.

any one has it’s own advantages, and weaknesses .
i just bought vista a few days a go and its great its easy to figure out i recommend it
It depends on what you want to do, what hardware you have, and how much money you want to spend (both for the OS as well as for all of the software you will acquire).
