Linux is a type of OS, while Microsoft is a corporation. If you mean Linux or Windows, then it depends on what you want to do. Linux in itself is a powerful operating system, plus it’s free. However most Linux distributions have a steep learning curve since it is tailored to people in the know how.
Windows on the other hand is easy to use and supports many applications. Ofcourse Windows comes at a price. The best version of Windows out right now is Windows XP and if you wait another year, Windows Vista will roll out.
The main difference between Windows and Linux is that Windows treats you like a dummy, where it assumes that you know nothing about what you are about to do and comes up with a million prompts to help you do what you want to do whereas Linux treats you like the master, where it will let you do anything you want and more often than not won’t do anything you don’t explicitly ask it to do, a consequence of this is that if you mess up a critical file in Linux(which linux will let you do, Windows will pop up a thousand warnings), you are in deep deep trouble.
microsoft
Linux all the way, everybody is just so familiar with Microsoft that Linux hasn’t got the respect and attention it deserves.
