The particular pieces of software can vary a bit depending on the version of linux but here is a list of software used by the versions of linux that use the rpm package manager.
RPM is a core component of many Linux distributions, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the Fedora Project, SUSE Linux Enterprise, openSUSE, CentOS, Mandriva Linux, and many others.
The second link is for just the software that is available on the cds that are used for the initial. In other words the most popular ones that would fit on one cd.

Actually, none.
A standard linux distribution like debian or gentoo will install just the base system and the command line. This is because it doesn’t know what do you want linux for: a www server, a desktop, a file sharing machine…
After the basic install, you can install almost anything you want using apt-get (debian) or emerge (gentoo).
You can, of course, use other distributions that ‘choose for you’, but i will not encourage you to do this. Quote: ‘Use ubuntu or suse and you will learn about ubuntu or suse. Use debian or gentoo, and you will learn about Linux.’
