Where can I get the Linux OS for free?

I heard there’s a new version of the Linux OS! I really just wanted to see what all the hype about this OS is. i would like a site where there is no risk of viruses and easy directions to install the Linux OS.

Actually, there is no "Linux OS". Linux is a class of OSes. They have many varieties, from Red Hat, to Ubuntu, to Knoppix, and a whoe lot more. Red Hat just released a new version of Fedora (that being version 7) and you can download it from the link in sources list. Additionally, I’ll include a link to a website that addresses Linux in general for beginners, with links to various Linux OSes.

You could try the latest version of Ubuntu. It is Linux, it’s open source, and it’s free.
There are NO viruses in the wild for Linux. Also there is no such thing as "the Linux OS". There are different distributions of GNU/Linux that use Linus Torvalds’ Linux kernel at the core. There are hundreds of Linux distributions – all of them free and virus free.

There are many different versions (distros) of Linux.
You Might be referring to Ubuntu which comes in 4 flavors Ubuntu ,Kubuntu ( kde desktop) Edubuntu (education optimized) and Xubuntu .I am using Kubuntu and Ubuntu Its totally free .Just request it from their website.Its a bit different than windows but you get used to it.I actually am running Kubuntu and windows vista on this machine by Setting up Kubuntu for dual boot while I installed it.You Just pick which OS you want when you start up.
