Every major Linux distribution should have a package manager program that fetches and installs software from online repositories pretty much automatically.
Search for your menus for a package manager program (can’t remember what Mandriva uses). It should give you a list of available software in different categories. Installing should be pretty much point and click.
Mark is right go to the Mandriva control panel and in the list select the programs you want to install. Linux is THAT easy. Now if you want the cream of the cream of linux go for the Powerpack subcription or the powerpack product. Yes it does cost money but come with all the drivers, java, shockware, and many goodies NOT found in the free version.

If you are asking how and where to get mandriva see the first link.
If you are looking for software/apps to install in mandriva see the second link.
For best results be sure to read the mandriva documentation. Linux is different from windows.
