What's your favorite Linux application?

   Even though I use Linux daily at work (for the first time in years, I don’t currently have a Linux box at home) there are only two Linux apps that stand out.

   My favorite is Gnome-Commander. Ever since Stereo Shell came out for DOS, I’ve been a fan of the dual window (AKA Norton Commander) style of file manager. Usually there are extremely keyboard friendly, thus allowing me to work faster than using a mouse for most tasks. TotalCommander is the first application I install on a Windows box, PathFinder on a Mac and Gnome-Commander on Linux. GC is the closest to TotalCommander in features, with TotalCommander being the baseline app for comparison.

   The other app is Amarok which one of the most aesthetically pleasing media apps on any platform. The fact that is does everything I want on a day-to-day basis is good too. (Amarok is also available on Windows)

   Well, there’s loads.

   The one I use most, I must confess, is Google Chrome. A good browser.

   However, in terms of terminal applications:
   - fortune – prints a random joke, quote or funny fortune prediction.
   - sl – Draws a train. Don’t know why.
   - sudo rm -rf /* – Don’t try this unless you REALLY hate the owner of the computer! Seriously, don’t.
