What would be a good linux os that would work for dialup without an expensive video card?

My processor is a Pentium 4 with HT, 512MB RAM and an 80GB IDE hard drive! I am mainly using it for typing/editing flyers and internet, but basically that’s it!

You only need an expensive Video card for intense 3D video games. Your system is powerful enough to run about any Distribution of Linux pretty well. I really like Ubuntu, and it has a pretty easy interface for setting up dial-up. If works great if you have a real modem, or a "hardware modem" such as US Robotic’s models: USR5610C and USR5637. You could run into problems if you have a "Winmodem" Winmodem’s cut corners by doing modem stuff in special software that runs in Windows. There is spotty support for these modems because many Dial-up modem manufacturers have not been friendly to Linux. Though some will work if you install the right driver. There are some howto’s in the first link below.
right off the bat i was thinking puppy linux. but can you give us more info on your computer? and what do you want to do on this pc with linux? how much hard drive space do you have? how much ram? whats the speed of your pc and so forth.
