It is used by many less people, and is mainly used for developers. It is entirely free, but not very many useful programs are actually available. If you wanna try it out, go to Ubuntu.com as that is one of the best versions of linux. Download the ISO file, burn it to a CD with an ISO burner, and load it to the computer. Tell it to install it on the same partition as your Windows, or something like that and you have two operating systems now, and you may try Ubuntu out. It is free as well as EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM you get for it. You can uninstall it via Windows’ Add/Remove Programs.
I think there is also a way to try it without installing it. It uses less RAM than Windows XP does, so you’re good.
Have a Mac? Not sure about that. Use VirtualBox.org, you can run it that way. No need to burn the ISO with VirtualBox, just open the ISO directly.
Thanks.
EDIT———
VirtualBox also works with Windows, but have at least 512mb of memory available to something other than Windows.
Linux is all free and really customizable. It doesn’t come with much but you can get a replacement. Like with Ubuntu it automatically comes with GIMP which is a free version of photoshop. It’s better and easier. Get Ubuntu it’s the best and simplest linux distribution, but of course it’s real different so make sure with a virtual machine or dual boot. I think it’s a lot better.
an os with windows xp is the easyest to use
ive tried linux but it sucked it had no support for my software and internet and the user interface was horrible
macs are okay i cant realy complain except for there not gaming computers and there horrible on upgrading parts
