Linux reviews applications open source from SUSE Mandrake Mandriva Centos Redhat Debian and more
for a new user microsoft windows as it is very user friendly and the GUI (graphic user interface) is easy to use. Linux is more upper end database, graphic use. I suggest you get microsoft even if it costs more and you wont regret it.
Definately LiNuX.
linux, also free
Linux is a mosaic of art and science…
Windows is a rip off of 30 years worth of other peoples work…
Linux is free. You can try it without removing your current system. It is also fully customizable and its software is free. I personally use Ubuntu Linux, which is one of the easiest and most user friendly distributions I know.

If you do not want to download it, you can order a CD (free cd including free shipment).
I would also recommend Macintosh, but it is restricted to apple hardware, which makes it expensive.
Note that both Macintosh and Linux are virus free operating systems, therefore you dont even need a virus scanner or anti spyware
Just my 2 cents
Microsoft is definitely great for beginners more advanced users may be interested in linux.
