I am trying to figure out which OS to go for? It seems there is no real difference between Windows and Linux apart from the price. I need to figure out the difference in price between these two systems.

First there are alot of differences between the two
they are totally different OSes
and Secondly
Linux has many many distributions and a few of them are owned by companies, and each will charge you different amount
the gnu/linuxes will be absolutely free all the time
and my reccomendation is for sure to go to linux
unix has dominated web servers for decades for a reason and now most people migrate from unix to linux
good luck
Hello Buddy
Actually the variation in costs of Linux and Windows Servers comes only in the Software Licensing…Windows is a proprietary software and hence we are charged for it where as Linus is OpenSource GNU/GPL therefore it comes free of cost
This is only as per my knowledge… Experts please correct me

The windows server system cost a few hundreds of dollars, actual price depends on your license.

windows home server costs 110 dollars
Linux operating systems price can differ from vendor, but most Linux operating system will give this you for free.
