I am looking for a Linux OS for games free or not doesn’t matter. How do you get The Sims for Linux doesn’t it come with Mandriva. How far are they at with The Sims 2.

Games don’t come with Linux – you find Linux versions of the games on the web, download them and compile/install them. Google and Yahoo are your friends.
I don’t think they make the Sims for linux. You could probably use wine(http://winehq.org) or cedega(http://www.transgaming.com/) to get it to work.
For a beginner I would recommend ubuntu as the distro(http://www.ubuntu.com)
I downloaded a "linux-gamers-liveDVD" some time ago. It is optomized for and includes a number of games. I don’t recall how many are installed on the DVD. Google it. I am not going to run it simply to tell you the details.
The Sabayon LiveDVD has a number of more advanced games, not just the standard mix, pre-installed.
google "happy penguin" for more games info.
