What can be done to make Linux more competitive with Microsoft?

Microsoft has 95% of the desktop market, but many versions of Linux are capable and competitive operating systems. Yet, Linux hasn't caught on with most desktop users. So, with that in mind, why hasn't Linux caught on, and what can be done to help make Linux more widely accepted among ordinary desktop users?

I don't know dude, but both of these answers suck.
many versions of linux are capable and competitive???
LINUX is THE BEST!!!
unfortunately people do not know much about linux.
besides that, many people( I think the moer of them are from MICROSOFT ) have spread the idea that linux is not worth.or that is has a lot of bugs and that's not true.
what u can do is talk to your friends about it, how good it is and cheap.
Get the word out that LINUX RULES.
