So I’m guessing that VMWare Player is the best free software available to accomplish this but I can’t seem to install VMWare properly on my SUSe, pls help…plus should I be dowloading the .rpm or the .tar file from the VMWare website?

You need to check the VMWare documentation to see what versions of Linux are supported for their products, including the VMWare player. Not all flavors of linux are supported.
SuSE comes with a LINUX (free) virtual machine software, XEN;
you can select to install it from tee source CD (/DVD);
it’s certainly possible to get VMWare to work as well, but XEN comes build in, ready to go.
