How to find linux full offline linux software?

Ok, fairly dumb question, but im a student at JobCorp and i’m using Linux(OpenSuse-Gnome). I’m relatively new at using it, coming off from Windows-XP. I’ve been trying to find software that doesn’t require me to have a active internet connection.
My classroom computer is WinXP(school policy with net) and dorm room(no internet at all isnt allowed) is OpenSuse-Linux.
So this seems to be a rather difficult adjustment, as i don’t understand why the forcefulness nature of connecting to a server to download. cant it be like windows and just give a zip-like and just install,
yes im aware of .rpm and other zip-likes >.>
* Forcing by which that almost every site that personally I have been to not just ONE >.> geez really think I went to one >.> wow no. Its just a question if anyone knows a site that has the full software to download so i can use flash drive and install it, tired of the files being quicklinks to websites >.> its no wonder why ppl dont leave windows if that all thats to offer its internet required to get stuff physically, what a luxury we dont all have, but im just saying ya know not to be edgy

How do I install Linux on my laptop?

I would like to install Linux as my main operating system on my laptop. I currently have windows XP installed on my Compaq Presario 700. I am having major problems with my laptop and this seems like a perfect time to start over and learn some stuff about linux. I would like to wipe out everything on this laptop, Windows included and start fresh with linux. My main use of this laptop is "internet surfing/learning linux" as it is a little older and I have better computers for other applications.
Here are my system stats,
900mhz mobile AMD processor
256MB RAM
CD rom and floppy drive

So my question is, where do I start? How can I wipe out everthing on this computer and install Linux?

how can i delet a partition made by suse linux?

i want to change my OS from SUSE to WINDOWS XP but i can not delet the partion SUSE made help pls

On this site http://bobmorris.wordpress.com/2008/02/09/how-to-uninstall-ubuntu-on-dual-boot-windows-xp-using-windows-only/
it tells me to boot off my windows XP CD. Is this the re-installation CD?

(And I mean unbootable in Linux AND Windows XP.) I was trying to install Mandrake’s edition of Linux to be swappable with XP on my HP Windows Media Player PC. Although I tried to be careful about creating the partition on an empty area of the disk, I somehow managed to screw it up. All my data are still there, but I can’t access it. I’d like to be able to restore without reinstalling XP, since that requires reformatting the drive. I’ve tried Partition Commander, Fix-It Utilities 6, and also have a Knoppix DVD that I can boot from.

Thanks.

Im running Ubuntu Linux Fiesty Fawn 7.04 on Microsoft’s Virtual PC console.
I have a problem when i try to apply the
‘Desktop Effects’ i enable them and then poof my screen turns white i cannot see absolutely anything! After that Ubuntu automatically turns this feature off (about 5 sec)
This is the most important reason in why i was trying out Linux to make it my primary OS because of the work effeciency that you get for example using the cube effect.
THE LAST PROBLEM is:
I find that Linux runs pretty slow! i allocate 512 mb of ram to Microsoft Virtual PC and i notice that Windows XP and Ubuntu are not even close in speed!
Please note that:

Windows XP and Fiesty Fawn are running side by side and Linux is a lot slower than XP!!!!
My Computer Specs are:
Intel Pentium 4 3.20 ghz
1 GB DDR Ram
200 GB SATA internal Hard drive
250 GB Seagate external Hard drive
ATI Radeon X1550 PCI (not PCI-Express :[ )

Hi.
Im buying a new computer and i intend to get Ubuntu Linux on it. However, the rest of the computers in my house run on Microsoft Windows XP and Vista. Is it possible to have my ubuntu desktop on the same network as my "home" network (which has the windows comps)? In other words, will i be able to access files (wirelessly) on the windows computers and will the windows computers be able to access files on my computer? Thanks a million!
