How do I install a linux OS on an old MAc Power Book G3? What is the best (most stable) Linux Operating System (open source)?
I have heard of lots of different Linux OS like Ubunto and Mandriva.
Im pretty computer savy so which one do you think fits me best?
Also, are Linux able to play Windows games or run windows applications?
Does anybody know a basic linux OS that i can burn to a CD and put onto my old computer?
Ok i need a linux os that i can boot on my computer from my flash drive. I need one that can connect to my dsl on my downstairs comp through a linksys wireless adapter. Ive tried knoppix i couldn't get a signal, i tried unbuntu but it just leaves me at a huge comman prompt with nothing to enter in it. I'm about to try DSL linux. I've only tried these. Oh andi don't know what wireless card i have if any and i have a westell modem and a wireless g router on the one with dsl. Oh and the one running dsl is windows xp
I'm going to be installing Linux on my PC in the very near future as either a dual boot or a fresh install after I backup my important files. I have read a lot on both SUSE and Ubuntu Linux. Please help me by informing me which is best for Linux newbies. I have read volumes on both, but am having a difficult time deciding which would be the easiest for me to get into since this will be my first Linux OS.
I would like to install either linux or mandrake linux and windows xp on the same HDD. I would prefer mandrake linux considering I dont need a partitioning software to do this. But which OS do I need to install first?
ok so if I install xp first will linux still allow it to partition the drive so that I have 2 partitions instead of 1? Right now I have 1 with xp. was hoping so not have to use partition magic or anything. I read that linux will actually do this for you when installing (mandrake version only i think). my other question is what is the difference between mandrake and the original linux OS? if any at all. I want to use linux for the free software and security but want to keep windows to still be able to play my games, and use my camera and ipod. not sure if mandrake and linux are the same thing or not I just heard about it today.
I havent installed either yet because im going to do this on my old computer first. I have also used linux be4 I just have never put 2 OS's on 1 HDD
How do i partion my hard drive so i can put the Linux OS(Unbuntu) onto it and choose to boot Linux instead?
Some links would be nice, Thanks!
I have Vista 64 bit. If I were to get my mom a Linux OS Laptop, what would be the differences?
I’m just curious. I use Mac OSX (leopard) and I think it would be nice to have a portable Linux OS that will carry all of my files and settings so I could have those where ever I am (and of course so I could avoid using Windows). I was just wondering if there is any way of doing this. Size isn’t much of an issue since I’m planning to get a new flashdrive for it anyway.
I know there are cellphones that use the Linux OS but what else? The program is so customizable that I have to believe its used for other machines/tools than the computer.
Is Microsoft limited to the PC however?
