I have always used Microsoft and desire to learn Linux. I am a programmer by occupation, but everything is done via Windows.
Also, which is the best Linux Distribution?

I’m looking for an easy linux distribution that can be permanently installed on a Dell computer with a ram of 256 mb and a free space of 10 GB.
Preferably, I would like the distribution to be easy to use and install (I’m a beginner) and to have all the necessary applications and characteristics needed for a personal home/desktop usage.
If possible, it would also be great if the distribution was in Spanish and had useful tools included with it, such as open office or firefox.

Do you know of any Linux distribution that matchs these requirements? What distribution do you think is best for me?

Linux OS!!?

What is your favorite Linux distribution? Mine would have to be Slax or gOS…

Which Linux distribution would you suggest me?

I am thinking of dual-booting windows 7 32-bit and a linux distribution on my laptop.I need a distribution which will be as small as possible(I don’t care what applications it will have) and fast. Also, bear in mind that I am not an experienced linux user.

What linux distro is great for my netbook?

I’m looking to replace my current operating system with a linux distribution. I would like one that has many applications for media i.e. playing music, watching movies, communication, and word processing. Any programs able to open microsoft document extensions would be great too. I’ve heard of ubuntu but would like to hear about others available.

I have to choose a Linux distribution for my tafe class and I’m thinking about Mandriva. From what I’ve read: It’s good for beginners, is mainstream, fairly well supported and is available as a desktop distribution.
If anyone else has suggestions it appreaciate them.

Thanks in advance!!

I would like to try Linux on a PC. What is the best Linux distribution which includes open-source and is free?
