I have a dell inspiron 6400/E1505 with Intel pro 3945 abg card.
I have tried linux suse 10.1 and Fedora 5.0 but it doesn’t work.
I found some procedures on google.com but they looked like for Linux-Pros!! I am just a beginer on Linux.
Can anyone help with step by steps? Or suggest which version of Linux is compatible with intel pro 3945 wireless card?
Hello All,
So currently i have a windows server with .asp web pages. My website is search engine optimised and indexed very well by google and more than 95% of my traffic is from google search.
But now due to some reason i have to change the server to linux server and i wont be able to run .asp pages on it.
I have manually designed and created my web pages and last year i tried using wordpress and the whole thing changed. My traffic and alexa rank dropped to lowest because all the indexed web page gave an page not found error. I changed back to my previous .asp pages and the traffic started rising.
So now if i use .php pages or any cms for that website, then how can i redirect all not found error pages to the home page? Is it something related to custom error pages?
Linux server has htaccess page and windows has web.config. I learned about web.config but not sure about how to do it in htaccess. Any suggestion how can i solve this server switch issue? I dont really want the traffic to drop.
I’m writing a 15 page research paper on linux right now, well more like researching right now for the paper. Started searching through google about linux and eventually found out that Novell and Microsoft has teamed up.
Okay theres two parts to this post.
One what do you think i should write the paper on?
Two. I’m leaning on talking about how Novell and Microsoft has teamed up and what that means for the rest of the industry.
I go to school for Internet/Network Engineering and right now I have no idea in what direction I want to go with it. This paper is making me feel as if I should get really good with suse linux, since it’s a cheaper route than windows for companies and with suse and microsoft teaming up the interoperability seems great between the two. I was leaning more as just being a microsoft man since alot of people use microsoft, but if the economy is driving users towards linux and if suse linux is with microsoft Id think the merger would make this version of linux be everywhere as is microsoft is everywhere and it be the most valuable thing to know.
That’s just what assumptions and thoughts that are going through my mind.
I just want to hear what you think I should write the linux paper on and or am I correct about this merger making microsoft and novell suse linux a huge monopoly on the computer world, and would that make a good a paper?
I just installed SUSE Linux 10.1 and have been unable to figure out how to install 3rd party software such as Yahoo Messenger or Google Earth.
I am trying to learn more about the RSA Algorithm. I have researched several pages on Google and have a fairly clear idea of what the algorithm entails — I don’t exactly understand *why* it works, but I believe I understand a good amount as to how one would encrypt/decrypt a message. My question, is how is this algorithm applied in real life? I mean, how does one generate two large primes? SInce there is no known algorithm for factoring the product of two primes it seems that there would also be no known algorithm for generating numbers that are prime? Also, is the arithmetic carried out? Raising a message to a power of significant size isn’t going to work well with a 32 or even 64bit processor. I assume some type of addon library is used to accomodate the larger numbers? How are these implemented? Finally, I understand that these mechanisms already exist and re-inventing the wheel is often dangerous in terms of crypto, but I just want to do it as a learning exercise.
My understanding of RSA algo:
1) Choose 2 large distinct primes p and q
2) Calculate modulus as N = p*q
3) Calculate totient as (p-1)(q-1)
4) Choose e such that 1 < e < (p-1)(q-1) and e is coprime with (p-1)(q-1). [Does this mean e could ever be 2? It seems an odd number would be required for e?]
5) Find d such that ed = 1 mod (p-1)(q-1)
[Is there only 1 d that works or does it matter which solution I choose?? What is an efficient way to calculate this??]
6) c = m^e mod N where m = msg expressed as number … whats an efficient way to raise m to such a large exponent? I realize modular arithmetic bounds this somewhat, but still the calculation could/should be much larger than 32 or 64bit values…
McDonger: Thanks for your response. I guess I’m looking for more detailed information as to how it gets split up and calculated. The symmetric encryption (the key passed via the PKE) isn’t so much of an interest to me.
Thanks.

Sorry, Gomez – ‘the only decent browser’ is fascist and untrue. Firefox is supported by Google resources and money, so it has good reason to be ahead of the competition.
Claudia’s advice about high virus/spyware protection is most interesting to linux users I’m sure!
Is it possible to get virus or spyware on linux?

Ok, I want to buy black Mandrake seeds and I have to know everything on what to do.( I went to google and got minimal help.) When are you supposed to plant them, what do you do before you plant them, and how do you take care of them? also I need Instructions for Turkmenian Mandrake too. Is mandrake even in season now?, I thought it was too late to plant anything now…(I don't know that much about gardening!)
