shockwave player?

is there a linux RPM anywhere that i can download of shockwave player???

I’m on a Linux compter in one of my college’s computer labs, it’s 64-bit and running Red Hat distribution. From http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ I tried both .tar.gz and .rpm.

When I unzipped the tar file I got a file called libflashplayer.so, and when I tried to open it I got an error that said "couldn’t display [path]/libflashplayer.so".

When I extracted the the .rpm, I got a folder with 2 folders inside, lib and share, and a bunch of files and folders within those. I found another file called libflashplayer.so, and it gave the same error.

Anyone know how to get it to work?

I’m on a Linux compter in one of my college’s computer labs, and it’s saying it doesn’t have Flash Player. The computer is 64-bit and running Red Hat distribution. What version of Flash should I get from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ ? (if you can’t see the Linux options, they are):

YUM for Linux
.tar.gz for Linux
.rpm for Linux
.deb for Ubuntu 8.04+
APT for Ubuntu 9.04+
btw, I’ve had to "zip" a few tarballs for my programming class, so I know how to extract .tar.gz files. would that be the best option?

Installing compiler suite on Mandriva?

I downloaded the solarisStudio 12.2 rpm package for linux directly from Oracle. Is there a way I can use the Mandriva "Install & Remove Software" installer to install it? Cause I don’t understand their install Instructions. Also if it doesn’t work on mandriva, how would I be able to do this with downloaded software that was compatible with mandriva?

Why does my computer always crash?

Everytime i play any kind of audio or video (more specifically with audio) my computer crashes! Its a selfmade computer with an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ CPU, 2gb of memory, and 74 gb 10,000 rpm hard drive.

The computer hasnt been running correctly ever since the power went out one day and obviously my computer shut down. When i booted it up again, it ALWAYS freezes when audio/video plays. I have updated all the drivers for both audio/video and done windows update.

I have the same problem witn windows 2000, win xp pro, win xp 64bit AND linux! Is it my motherboard or soundcard (creative audigy 2)?

One more thing to note is my motherboard has an ATI video chipset with PCI express x16 and i’m using a NVIDIA pci video card (very old school). I havnt bought a new video card (pci express ATI) due to this issue, i dont want to waste my money.

I read a few tutorials on how to do it from the Terminal but that’s RIDICULOUSLY difficult. Anyways that I could do it using a RPM installation and a GUI tool to write my SQL queries??

plz help me i cant decide which one to get
YUM for linux
.tar.gz for linux
.rpm for linux
.deb for Ubuntu 8.04+

Also just a side question, does not need to be answered but where can I find a Free copy of Everest as a rpm in Linux?
I download a bios update but it dosent load or do anything at all, it just boots into Linux (Fedora Core 6) as per normal

I used to be able to play runescape on my Acer aspire one until one day i clicked ‘Play now’ and it said i needed to install a missing plugin called Java Runtime Enviroment. I clicked install and immediately after a window came up saying no plugins were installed and gave me an option for manual installation. Ive read on other websites such as http://en.kioskea.net/faq/4731-installing-java-runtime-environment-on-linux these people said that you need a file calledjdk-6u12-linux-i586-rpm.bin BUT i cant find this file anywhere !! Also if u find the download can u tell me how to install it Thanks. Much appreciated and i hope i get back on soon :) ( i use Firefox 3.6)

I’ve tried every link on Java.com/
{{Linux RPM (self-extracting file) file size: 19.7 MB
Linux (self-extracting file) file size: 20.2 MB
Linux x64 * file size: 19.6 MB
Linux x64 RPM * file size: 189.1 MB}}

all these links on the website takes me to a box that tells me to save the file. So I save it. Then it downloads. Next it says download complete. Heres the weird part I click open and a box comes up titled "Launch Application" it only thing I can click is a button that say "Choose an Application" so I click it… And I don’t know what Application to open it with.

Does anyone here know anything at all about Java/Linux?? I need Java but I’m thoroughly confused what version to download for my 10.04 Ubuntu OS (says "You are using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS – the Lucid Lynx")… Do I do Linux RPM (self-extracting file), Linux (self-extracting file), Linux x64, OR OR Linux x64 RPM???
I’m so used to a Windows OS, that I’m confused here… I know jack squat about Linux, but I’m having to temp. use it for a bit….. Any help here would be greatly appreciated

trying to update Java on Linux Ubuntu?

I’ve been going around in circles. I cannot access a parachat chatroom. I’m told I need to upgrade Java. When I go to Java it tells me I have java version 6 update 20 and need to upgrade to update24. java then presents 4 options. which are:
1. Linux RPM (self extracting file)
2.Linux (self extracting file)
3.Linux x64
4.Linuxx64 RPM
I do not know what to do from here.I read that a RPM file will alter what is already installed so I tried option #2 without success. I have a pentium processor, a 64 bit OS. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
