redhat linux version?
A person is offering me redhat linux desktop version 9 and linux server version 7 for a fifty bucks . He does not live in my town and wanted to finish the deal with CASH ON DELIVERY.
I am not a computer expert and wanted to know whether these version are the current or outdated ones. I also want to know whether these software are freely dowloadable from the internet.

linux is free !!! i wouldn’t give him a dime
All versions of Linux are free.
You can get Redhat from -
http://www.redhat.com/
The official Redhat Linux is not free. But you could download their community version which is called fedora at:
http://fedoraproject.org
If you are interested in a free version of the server I can recommend: http://www.centos.org.
I would not buy redhat 9 from this person since it’s an outdated version!! Go with the free versions you can download them from the sites I mentioned. Try them out and if you are interested after that in the official Redhat go to the site: http://www.redhat.com and look for official partners. (https://www.redhat.com/partners/).
http://www.distrowatch.com for any of 360+ distros
http://www.redhat.com/ gets you to the Red Hat website.
I am sure the person you are talking to also will sell you London Bridge if you push him!
That will be $27.47 please. Kindly don’t forget to add an additional $2.43 to my payment for each of the distros you check out on http://www.distrowatch.com.
