Open Solaris is a Unix Operating system, Linux is an off shoot of Unix. There difference is the file system format. Open Solaris is using Linux files in the Unix Operating system. One difference is Unix is harder to work with than Linux is. Unix is Mac computers operating system Solaris ZFS.
GNU OS is normally Linux open source, available to everyone.
