Your Linux system is mostly transparent to viruses but you may want to install clamav to prevent infecting virus to windows pc’s.
It’s usually available in your software package depending on what distro you use.
the best way is to stop using windows.. as I did.
Use ClamAV.
But yes, linux anti virus programs are only designed so your computer can’t be used as a base to spread windows viruses. you are safe from most viruses, if not all of them, when you use linux.
Does anyone attack Linux? No.
clam av.

If you are using Ubuntu, then it will be located in your repository (synaptic package manager).
I have visited many dangerous sites using Linux, & I almost feel its impossible to get a virus on Linux/Ubuntu. Although this may not be an entirely true statement, my point is, its not very likely you will get a virus using Ubuntu/Linux
I also recommend the rootkit antispyware program chkrootkit which can also be found in the synaptic package manager. Again, you may be going overboard with any protection for Linux, but if you are paranoid like me, then it won’t hurt.
I also use the front end firestarter for my firewall.
Can you say paranoid!!!
well if you go on a non safe web site
it pops up one
it happened to me but you cant put back on it
I think avast home edition works with linux

it does work with linux, just register yourself for free
