Try Mandirva 2009.0 Gnome Edition of One version.. The KDE 4 edition is just not ready yet though I am using it as my default OS.. You can install the proftpd from Mandirva Add/Remove [GUI front for URPMi]
Hoping you will love 2009.0 .. It is the latest distro till date featuring improve boot speed and latest s/w "_

When the rpm hunt becomes a pain in the ass, the allure of debian-based package management becomes strong.
Ubuntu uses it. They’ve got a package manager called synaptic that finds the prerequisites for you, instead of you doing what you’re doing now, looking for frickin’ rpm’s.
I can’t speak to that specific software, never heard of it. I’d say, if you find the .debs are available, that’d be one more reason to switch to ubuntu.
