First suggestion: if you want to have a dual boot, thenget rid of the cd images and go to http://www.goodbye-microsoft.com . Click on the Debian logo and it will install it over the internet — it’s the debian equivalent of Wubi.
Finally, if you absolutely MUST have DEBIAN, get a live cd:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/release/current-live/i386/iso-cd/
You can generally install from that. But this just gives you a better opportunity to try it first — and frankly, their Live CDs are better than Ubuntu’s.
EDIT: The full install disks are a pain in the butt. I use live cds or the net-install disk, and in any case I’m going to configure it to my needs with apt over the next few weeks or months. That is what I recommend. It took a friend of mine two weeks to install it with the full install disks. Just use net-install or a live cd and you’ll cut the time down to about four hours.
