I know nothing about C!
In the same time I want to catch up with the latest stuff and go with C# but I also want to learn about C in Linux, sockets and a liitle bit of lower level like C(do not give me assembly)
I do not know wich one to start off with first and every single time I decide on something, I try and find tutorials, but I suddenly feel that want to go back to the other one! It is a weird feeling and I also think I got some mental problem ! Please help me with this and do not tell me to look on the other discovered questions!
Could I go with both at the same time since they have a similar syntax?? (not really similar but close)
I forgot to mention that I am not interested in money right now since i am only 14!
That is because when i will be in the stage of making money of it there will be even better languages than c#

Hey guys,
I’m finishing a program, and the professor wants us to create a script file which basically records everything the command prompt prints to the screen, and puts it all into a text file. In linux, you can start this with the command:
script scriptfilename
Is there any MS DOS equivelant? thanks!

I’m not meaning this as if they are bad, they are both great. It’s just that whenever I use them I get an odd feeling in my stomach. My mother told me that sometimes colors and designs make some people feel a little woozy.
I only get this feeling when I’m looking at extremely high detailed and clean looking interfaces. Now with Microsoft Windows XP I can look at it and not feel woozy since I can look closely at the task bar and see the grain of the granite. But with Ubuntu and Vista, I cannot. Why is this?
And no I’m not prone to seizures.

Howdy
I have found a laptop for £200 that gives more than some other laptops i’ve been interested in which cost £80 more and I think this is because the £200 laptop has linux for its o/s.
I’ve never used linux. How easy would be it be to write reports (I’m a student and going to sea in march, gotta right reports at sea too >.>) and have them compatible with microsoft word.
What about the music on my pc that i would wish to transfer, mp3′s and media player tunes?
Or should I pay a bit extra for an o/s i’m familiar with.
Oh the laptop is this one:
Acer Aspire One A150-Aw
The extension won’t be .doc with linux, is the extension compatabile or easily changeable, so the document can be opened on word?
The issue is compatability with microsoft o/s that the college uses. I’ll happily write a report on the given word processor but i can’t be having to download programs at the college (not allowed) so I can open up my report to edit/print off without character/font changes or issues like that.

What would happen if I recommended that someone use Linux or Mac over Microsoft Windows? What would happen if I opined that Microsoft didn’t provide good software solutions?

I have always used Microsoft and desire to learn Linux. I am a programmer by occupation, but everything is done via Windows.
Also, which is the best Linux Distribution?

Revised question, actually.
The class debate is that Micro claims that Linux stole their patches or something along those lines. I’ve been put in to the Linux group, and therefore have to defend it with my little-to-no-knowledge of the whole situation. I’m doing soem research, but I’d really appreciate any opinons you guys have, defenses, attacks from either side. Advantages and disadvantages?
My position is to start up the argument and give a general overview of the situation at hand and layout the arguments for the next speaker. Aye.
