Mandriva Linux 2007 is asking for a login during installation?

I never set up a login of any kind before, and this is in the beginning of the installation. I can type in a name, but when it gives me a prompt for the password, I can’t type anything. So I hit enter and it tells me the login is incorrect. Help me, please!

The following is true for all Linux OS’s
When installing it will ask you to SET a ROOT PASSWORD, you will see two entry fields, type the ROOT PASSWORD in both, this is your ROOT USER or ADMIN ACCOUNT
The next password dialog is for the NORMAL USER, here you will see three entry fields, the first for the USER NAME, the next two for the NORMAL PASSWORD.
The reason there are two USERs the ROOT USER and the NORMAL USER is to separate the ADMIN FUNCTIONS from the NORMAL USE FUNCTIONS
The reason it asks you to enter each password twice is to prevent a typo.
