Lots of Questions About Mandrakes…?

My goal is to make mandrake pie, but I hear the plant is posionous. Is it so posionous I couldn’t eat it in pie?
Also, would one use the roots or the leaves?
Should they be fresh or dried?
Are there any other side affects I should know about?
And… is mandrake even legal in the US?
Any information or links will be greatly appreciated!!!
Are you _sure_ it’s poisoness? Even if I cook it?

Mandrake is a member of the nightshade family. Its name is Mandragora officinarum. All parts of the plant are poisonous. I would stay away from it. Some Wiccan groups use the roots for potions. They are dicing with fate. But if you must mess with the plant, contact such a group and speak with a person who has direct experience with the plant and not a recipient of other’s anecdotes.
Good luck!
I suggest you cook with blueberries or something like it, they have less ferocious propensities.
