Linux run microsoft office? (I have the cds)?

so i just downloaded linux ubuntu (kubunto and xubuntu desktops also) and i stumbled across my old office cds. is there a way i can have my cake and eat it too? can i download office and run it in linux?
The problem is i cant open the 2007 docx files any ideas?

No. Waste of time. There are ways to make it work, but why install this junk, when your distribution includes Open office which is a much better office suite.
use windows. OpenOffice sucks, I have used it, and so does Ubuntu. Just use Windows.
