I am currently running Linux UBUNTU 9.04 on my machine, and it is a very nice change from Vista, visually and functionally. What are you running and your thoughts?

Im personally too lazy to use Linux. I just stick with XP and it works for what I need it to. I’m not very demanding on my computer though.
Well you see I know a good deal with some Linux branches and not any of some.
See the thing is with Linux you have the control and completely free distribution of anything.
The reason its hard for many to use Linux is because
when your just starting out to install most of the stuff you have to go to
The
Command Prompt<Terminal<Run terminal
Then put in the code.
Now for big servers that is perfect but
for gamers and home users its too hard. Linux is the base kernel of Mac but Linux has the least compatibility with all software.
95 % is Windows
but with wine you can run a lot of that stuff.
The reason I only run Linux on a weaker computer is that Linux takes the least amount of your systems power to run. the new Linux distributions such as the new Kubuntu and fedora have superior GUI to even Mac,
If Linux had more compatibility then i would leave Windows in a heartbeat.
I have the same reason as the person above me; I’m way too lazy to really be dualbooting or installing a new OS, but I did have xubuntu for a bit, which I found pretty cool. Only problem is that it fudged up my driver for WiFi, so I had to grab a new laptop. I think Linux is a great idea; but I don’t think it will ever be a hit until like Ubuntu 99.08 or something; the system has minimal to no advertising, and it’s a geeks machine. I don’t know anyone who is an enduser and chooses to use Linux. Most people just want to buy what they have, and not look further. That’s fine with me, and it’s the problem that’s with Linux and the entire idea.
