is it possible to instill linux mint 7 on the same HD with Windows XP?

Like Dave said. It is certainly possible to install Linux Mint 7 on the same hard drive as Windows XP. The worst part is partitioning. That is the single most difficult thing about installing Linux. I’ve trashed a couple of hard drives that way. Here is a how to though:

Generally I would look it up myself and I would read several tutorials — everyone finds different ones. I would also look up booting other distros like Ubuntu or Fedora as dual boots. The steps have so many similarities they should also be helpful. And defragment your windows drive just befor repartitioning.
I don’t see why not if you partition the drive properly. It’d probably be best to use two separate internal drives if you’ve got them, but I run OSX and XP off the same drive using bootcamp and it works just fine.
I’m no computer expert but there used to be a program called "system commander" which allowed you to install and use up to 99 operating systems. The expert I rely on is here
