hi…thr might be problem in downloading or packet transfer mechanism…..why don’t u go for ubuntu on:
http://www.shipit.com
this is a free distribution of linux CD…..try iy n enjoy..
rpm’s are the fruits of the Devil. Go with a Deb based Distro like Ubuntu
I’m not sure I’m understanding your problem… Mandriva 2007 is an operating system, you must insert the cd/dvd then reboot the pc and the installer will do all or almost all the job; but it seems you have a Linux installed yet on your pc, according to the error message you posted… Perhaps you’re trying an upgrade? So, it’s the same: put in the cd and reboot pc; just choose the upgrade option instead of installation’ when asked.
If you can give me further details, please let me know.
It seems to be a problem with the distribution. Try another distribution, (ie another version)
Try to reburn the DVD.
If the DVD is ok, try passing ide=nodma option at boot, along with the acpi=off.
Good luck
M.
I advise you to use ubuntu or suse if you want a complicated software .I installed 2006 version of Mandriva before and I faced many problems .Ubuntu is a totally free software. You can get every update freely and it will be free .
