Linux information needed.?
I love how Linux is free. I love how stable it is. I love how fast it runs. But, I gave up at Mandrake 9.0 becuase I couldn’t get my graphics card, modem, ethernet or dvd/rw to work.
What’s the best version of Linux for someone who just wants to use the operating system, the regular add-ons like the wicked PhotoShop-Like software, install QuickBooks (just about any version) and surf the internet.
Also – I need one which will accept my Lexmark X1185 printer.
Also – where can I download this wicked, near-perfect version of Linux which is free and doesn’t involve any scripting just to get the dang thing to do the simplest task?

Suse and Ubuntu are both very good, very clean versions.
Ubuntu is probably a better solution for you.

It uses the GNOME desktop. So if you prefer KDE you want to look at Kubuntu.
For info on all Linux distributions check http://www.distrowatch.com
You should try Ubuntu.
It claims to support your printer ( see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=49714).
You can just boot off the CD, without installing, to see if things like videocard, ethernet, DVD, etc. work. Only caveat is that you may actually have to actually install it in order to install a printer driver (I’m not sure about this). I have a different Lexmark, which I could not get to run under Ubuntu, but according to the link mentioned above, it will support yours.
