Linux (debian) Canon PowerShot A95?

I have a Canon PowerShot A95, on my laptop I am running Linux (debian) I need help downloading my pictures when I plug my camera into my laptop and turn on my camera I get a pop up which says ~Camera has been detected ~ and it gives me the option to inport the images. I press inport and nothing happens please help

you need to install digikam and libgphoto2 software packages
then you start digikam, plug in your camera with USB cable, turn the camera on and select add camera from digikam menu
then select your camera from list and now you should be able to download images from camera
Unless Canon supplies Linux drivers, you are out of luck unless you can find an open source driver for it.
While Unix is used by some of the most powerful Sun and Silcone Graphics computers for motion picture special effects, animation and CAD, I have not met any photo post production wizards that use that OS … most use Windows and the rest Apple.
