Yahoo guys what would you suggest for Best open source server(Linux) in the market today.
kindly advice the Free of cost

I want server not desktop…It should have desktop kernal..

Red Hat Enterprise Linux. If you can’t afford it, there is centOS (same thing minus support an proprietary stuff).
RHEL uses SE Linux…That + a Firewall with properly configured IP tables is about as secure as your will ever get. SE Linux (security enhanced linux) is the military standard.
The next in line would either be scientific linux or openSUSE enterprise linux.
…if it is so crappy, why do most servers run either RHEL, SEL, or BSD? they don’t run debian because it just lacks the security that RHEL has…and Ubuntu is crap.
Sorry but in my opinion RedHat is a crap.
You may want to try Debian GNU/Linux
It’s the father of popular Linux distribution nowadays such as Ubuntu, Knoppix, Mempis, Xandros, Damn Small Linux, etc
and it’s 100% FREE
Debian can be used as desktop and or server.
