I’ve noticed that Windows XP uses a kernel.dll and kernel debugger. Is microsoft using Linux in it’s system?

If they are using Linux, are they breaking the GNU license by not putting their product source code out there for people to tinker with? Microsoft may be trying to muscle in on the Linux OS so that they can take it over for themselves.

Kernel is actually just a word used to define the central component of most computer operating systems.
well the names don’t mean that the code within them is the same….since windows code would never be revealed so keep guessin……and yes kernel name is not copyrighted for linux or unix or windows……as programmer, one tends to better an existing code and since linux code is freely available, may be the rival companies employees do get influenced to better it and sometime may be cpy it…………..
Linux is a Kernel, but not all Kernels are Linux. I will love to see all Kernels on this planet becoming Linux.
A kernel is a module/program that allows software to communicate with hardware. It is very very low level. Windows XP, Linux, Mac Osx, etc all have different kernels.
"kernel" name has nothing to do with Linux.
