Linux reviews applications open source from SUSE Mandrake Mandriva Centos Redhat Debian and more
Hi, I have been using Linux as my main system for a long time now and I use virtual box for my other programs I need. I heard a lot about Mandriva 2008 and most of them r good things. I think u should give it a try, who knows it maybe the best distro u ever used. Oh yeah I read a review about it when it came out and the reviewer said it was one of the best ditributions since…..uh don’t remember which older version of Mandriva though. Anyway try it though, if that doesn’t work well then give OpenSuse 10.3 and Ubuntu or Kubuntu 7.10 a try. Also if u r good with Linux then try Sabayon Linux, its based on Gentoo. Sabayon Linux probably has the best interface I have ever seen on a Linux system by default. I hope I helped.
Good Luck and take care!
Nope, I have the DVD but didn’t care to try just another distro for the heck of it.
I have been using Redhat Linux 7 to Red Hat Linux 9, then, Fedora Core 1 upto Fedora Core 4. Then changed to Slackware 9, then flirted with Ubuntu for a few days, then flirted with openSUSE a few days.
For the past eight months, I have settled with Debian unstable branch. You get the latest of all the software packages in it. Unlike any other distro that I have tried out there, Debian is good, free, active, bustling with energy and has no boss!!
Not like me to be a critic of Linux but I really wasnt that taken with it. Im not sure why, it just didnt work for me.
With Linux at present I have become somewhat biased towards Ubuntu 7.10 which is awesome and I use as my primary operating system on my main PC.
For others Mandriva 2008 may be just the thing they are looking for, but it just didnt set my world on fire.
