installing java on linux:BASIC PROBLM?

i am new to linux,using fedora6 core,i want to install jdk.i downloaded jdk-6u4-linux-x64.bin and jre-6u3-linux-i586-rpm.bin:is this my proper packages.?if yes how can i install these files?HELP ME PLEEEEEZ

this is why I recomend using ubuntu based distros for newbies it is much easier to install packages then the other distros if you feel you need to stick with your current distro you might be able to find the info you need on the forums sites
