Old habits die hard. Linux already has better alternatives for most Windows programs. But most people are often afraid of trying something new, like Linux.
The only Windows program that I still keep around is Photoshop., which I run both in WINE and Virtualbox.
Microsoft will slowly lose, as Linux gains acceptance. For example, Firefox has already overtaken IE. Who could have predicted that.
For those saying that Linux is geeky, they surely haven’t tried Linux in the last few years. Linux is easier now to use than Windows, especially when it comes to installing software. Also Linux automatically installs drivers for all hardware on your computer, Windows doesn’t.
Microsoft is terrified of Linux, and for good reason.
no ! it dos’nt run all windows applcations
honestly I think to many people are to scared to try new stuff
so i dought it would change anything
lets face if for the most part there is little linux wont do (you know that)
people fear what they dont understand
Well, it would completely free me-
I use Ubuntu for everything……except my WordSearch Bible study software. Outside that, I have no need for windows.
My only other option is Mac. I do not desire to go in that direction.
Maybe in the future???
Now come on what has windows got that can’t be done on Linux,,, 95% of home users only surf the net go on face book and myspace, and email, after that it’s hit and miss
after reading some of the messages tonight some are asking why Movie maker don’t work, we all know that’s for 10yr olds to play with, not for serious video editing, but most windows users thinks it is for serious work,,,
can you tell me one thing that can’t be done with Linux that windows can do, I can’t think of one item, So if I could run window apps in Linux I wouldn’t. Linux does it better
bodyslam by clothesline.
but, lol, why would you want it to? why not simply get apps for linux that work as well as the windows apps? that is where linux is really missing the mark. everybody talks about gimp and open office like they save the world. but open office has issues, and so does gimp. i like the idea of a free os, but i don’t need all of the headaches that come with, and linux has headaches built-in. windows has headaches too, dont get me wrong. but i have access to a lot more non-geeky resources for windows than linux. its too nerdy.
