If I am using Debian/Linux can I pass a virus onto others ?

Like by proxy but without knowing it, and no, I do not mean an Internet Proxy, I mean unwittingly or without my knowledge. Can this occur? If it can, how do I stop Viruses from spreading?

not really, if someone copies the virus to an open share on your computer and then someone else manually copies it off yes. but not really no.
a virus write for windows will not function under linux.
From what I have read the answer is no, you can’t pass viruses on, and they can’t spread on your system either, because of the way the file system is set up on the hard drive, the one way never to get Viruses is always download from an official distribution site,
I did read that there are Linux viruses out there, one was found on a official wallpaper website, it was a water fall screen saver, in the middle of the water fall was a hidden mouse over, if the mouse pointer passed over it, it activated the virus, it soon got removed, The person that uploaded it is now known. what’s going to happen about it, It never said, the website is now checking everything that is uploaded for viruses
