I have purchased a computer with a linux os. I would like to add windows to it. How can this be done or can it. My daughter loves watching movies online from netflix and they do not operate on this system. Any other suggestions? Do I need to return computer and start with a windows os.

Here is a step by step guide:

u just need to format your system and then u can install windows os
You need to have a look in the forums for your version of Linux, you can install windows after linux but you do need to be aware of how to do it.
Basically you need to have a linux rescue disk so that you can boot after installing windows and then remake the boot information used by the grub loader.
There should be an article on it for your version of Linux.
It is simpler if you have windows loaded first as Windows loader is compatible with grub loader so when you install linux it creates the multi loader which passes control to linux or windows.
I’ve had a look on ubuntu forums for example and its quite possible to create a partition and install XP without destroying your Linux build.
Just format a partition in ntfs and install windows into that drive…. then run linux setup to reconfigure the boot loader…
