short of picking each file, among the nearly 3500 on the DVD to put it on the right CD (with about 700 others), plus making the 1st CD bootable, not possible, but… how about simply downloading the CD ISOs???
assuming you have the last SuSE version which was available free for home use & all (SuSE 9.3), you can go to SuSE’s download page
http://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.3/iso/
and download the 5 CD ISOs
if you are in fact talking about OpenSuse, which is from version 10.0 onwards the free conterpart of Novell’s business offering, go to http://en.opensuse.org/Mirrors_Released_Version
choose a server close to you and download the CD ISOs.
