Linux will be on a different partition than XP. You should just be able to format the Linux partition from XP.
Jus delete the partition
Goto console ctrl+f1 to ctrl+f6
type fdisk /dev/hda if its an sata drive then user fdisk /dev/sda
type d to delete
Enter partition number to delete…
finally type w to write changes
