How to reduce the size of an mkv. video file What software for Linux Mint/Ubuntu?

I have an mkv. video file that is 6.6gb in size and want to shrink it in size to 4gb whilst retaining the mkv. file format
I am running Linux Mint 6 so a Ubuntu application would be suitable

I think it is possible to do this with ffmpeg.
Try using the winff frontend

You would have to loose some details though.
You cannot reduce the size of a video file, but you can get rid of unnecessary Reg-keys that belong to the video file, that are garbage. They tend to take up 1/4 of a video size believe it or not. There is only one free reg-cleaner I know. Search "Tweaknow RegCleaner" on google to find a free one. It’s not a free trial! It’s fully functional for free. Good luck!
