I’d like a way to live stream a video (movie) from my dedicated linux server (running debian) and possibly have chat as well? Sort of like Justin.tv but running on my box. Thanks!

I go with Imani, its a top quality video technology or a works globally.

Install VLC from http://videolan.org and read a bit in the forums there. A whole online TV can be made with VLC.
There are others of course, but I prefer this one.
Talk Fusion offers eight cutting edge video based applications including live streaming or broadcasting. In fact you can attend a live broadcast at your convenience and see first hand how this particular application works. The attached link makes reference to the platform and also provides one with a link to ongoing live broadcasts (video conference schedule) virtually every day!
