I’m a new user of Linux Ubunto. I know nothing about programming. I’m just an enthusiastic user! I’ve got a QuickTime for Linux (piece of software) downloaded. Can anyone explain me, how to install it? I need a step by by step explanation please!

If you are installing something from the standard software repositories, you can use apt-get or the graphical installer you can find in the desktop menus.
For software provided by third parties, you need to follow the instructions that come with that piece of software.
You need to install Medibuntu https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu and it is good practice to also install Resticted extras https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats
Both operations can be carried out in the Synaptic Package Manager. Here is the Official Ubuntu Documentation on how to use the Synaptic Package Manager https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticHowto
LUg.
Click on System → Adminsitration → Synaptic Package Manager. Click on Settings → Repositories. The window should open up showing the Ubuntu software sources. Check the universe, restricted, and multiverse repositories. Click ok.
Click the button at the top of the screen that says reload. Ubuntu will download a list of software in all of the repositories. Now click the search button and type "ubuntu-restricted-extras" That’s the package that will allow your computer to play quicktime files. Right click the package and select "Mark for installation." Click the apply button and synaptic will install it for you. Now you can exit synaptic and you should be able to play Quicktime files.
